Investing in the Future: How Can We Help Our Children Excel?

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting women and children, the Women and Children’s Committee of the Yemeni Community Association in Birmingham organized a special event on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. This event featured a variety of educational and recreational activities and was met with a remarkable turnout of mothers eager to enhance their children’s educational journeys.

The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking lecture titled “Together to Elevate Our Children’s Academic Performance,” delivered by Ms. Huda Ali. In her talk, Ms. Ali discussed effective strategies for fostering constructive dialogue with children and improving their academic and behavioural skills both inside and outside the classroom. She provided practical, actionable advice for parents to incorporate into their daily lives. Ms. Huda Ali is a former headteacher at state schools and currently serves as the headteacher of Amanah Arabic School.

The event also included engaging cultural and recreational competitions, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and positive interaction among the attendees.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the event’s content and recommended organizing similar activities in the future. They also suggested integrating such initiatives into the “Ladies’ Coffee Morning” program to broaden their reach.

Dr. Zainab Al-Hammadi, head of the Women and Children’s Committee at YCA, concluded the event with a heartfelt message of gratitude to Ms. Huda Ali and all the participants. She commended the active engagement of the participants and emphasized the significance of these events in raising awareness and providing both educational and recreational support for mothers.

The “Ladies’ Coffee Morning” program, organized in collaboration with the Muath Trust, is one of the YCA’s flagship initiatives in Birmingham. It aims to support women and foster social bonds and takes place on the first Wednesday of each month.
